Love Like Jesus
What does it mean to love like Jesus? God loves you right where you are, but He loves you too much to leave you where you are. Loving like Jesus means embracing a life of surrender to Him. It’s more than a one-time prayer or consistent church attendance. It’s a gritty, heart-level posture that affects every area of life. And there’s always a next step.
As we read through scripture we can’t help but notice a path that God most often leads His people down. It starts with knowing and loving Him and leads to knowing and loving people. We’re convinced loving like Jesus is an invitation to…
Jesus teaches us in John 17:3; “…this is eternal life, that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” Knowing God relationally is so much more than just knowing about God. We were created to glorify God, which begins through a life-changing personal relationship with Him. God’s word reveals His infinite selfless love for us as He left heaven and came to earth to die for our sins. Loving like Jesus means knowing God by accepting Jesus as our Savior.
Jesus tells us in John 8:32; “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” Our salvation and eternity are secure the moment we accept Jesus as our Savior, but our spiritual maturity is a journey that doesn’t happen in isolation. Through the empowering of the Holy Spirit, God’s Word and a community of loving believers we can grow in Christ and learn to live in the freedom He paid for. Loving like Jesus means becoming more like Him.
Jesus commands us in Matthew 28:19; “…go and make disciples…” We find great joy being obedient to Jesus and allowing the Holy Spirit to work in us and through us. We have freely received and freely we will give all that we are to further the greatest message ever! Loving like Jesus means going into the world and restoring people to a life-changing relationship with God through Jesus.
